How to Use Quinoa in Your Daily Diet

There are still many people who have yet to discover the delights of eating quinoa. When I am meeting strangers and introduced as the author of a quinoa book I am often asked "What on earth is Quinoa". The second question that follows on very quickly is some thing like "How do you use quinoa", or "How do you prepare Quinoa". I then give them enough information to satisfy their curiosity and we move on. One issue is that of including this super grain in a daily diet. Because people think it is something new they assume that you can't eat it in a daily diet.
Quinoa For Breakfast
To prove the doubters wrong let me take you through a days meals and demonstrate what you could be eating for each meal. For Breakfast you can simply boil up some quinoa flakes in water or milk and top it with fresh fruit such as blueberries or raspberries. I know someone who mushes up a ripe banana and blends it with the quinoa flakes for a very tasty breakfast.
Quinoa For Lunch
For lunch you could be eating a tasty and healthy quinoa salad. You prepare the quinoa and simply add salad ingredients of your choice and maybe some dressing or mayonnaise. A small portion of this type of salad will fill you up and keep you going for the whole day as it is full of good nutrition and is quite bulky. Your digestive system will take quite a few hours to assimilate this salad.
Quinoa For Dinner
If you have time then there are hundreds of possibilities for including this grain in you evening meal. You can make casseroles, soups, special home made burgers or have a stir fry with the vegetables and flavourings of your choice. Most quinoa recipes only take 20 to 30 minutes to prepare and they taste delicious.

Quinoa For Snacks
There are 2 main snack options. The first one is to create a seeds and nut mix of your own making. You can include walnuts, brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds to mix in with your prepared quinoa. This is a fantastic and healthy hunger buster when you are looking to raid the fridge for a snack. The second option is to do some baking and make some quinoa fruit bars. These can be baked in a batch of 24 and last you for a week if you store them in an air tight container.
