Dr Oz and Acai Berry Recommendations


Dr. Oz needs little introduction. Born as Mehmet Oz, this Turkish American, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania and Wharton educated, cardiothoracic surgeon is well known because of his sound diet advice as well as his regular guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. He suggests that the way to delay aging and keep your skin looking good, your heart healthy and your eyes clearer is to eat food rich in anti-oxidants. He calls these foods anti-aging foods.
It does not take much, nor is it expensive to find these anti-aging foods. They are mostly available right in your own refrigerator or in your local grocery. According to Dr. Oz, the aging process of the skin happens because of oxidization. Just like an apple, for example. When an apple is covered with lemon juice and the other half is left untreated, the one covered with lemons still remains fresh while the latter becomes shriveled up and brown. He likens the skin protected by anti-oxidants to an apple covered with lemon juice. When we protect our skin by eating foods rich in anti-oxidants, we prevent damage that can be caused by exposure to oxygen.
Obviously, lemons are an anti-oxidant. But to really have a profound effect on our skin, we need to eat fruits that have more potent anti-oxidant powers. Dr. Oz lists blueberries, sweet potatoes, broccoli and tomatoes as his favorite anti-aging foods. Dr. Oz also includes Acai berries as one of his recommendations as a potent anti-oxidant. Why acai berries? Well, this South American berry has twice the anti-oxidant content of blueberries. Imagine that? However, since these berries are not readily available in the United States and other countries, we have to make do with products such as acai berry juices, shakes and powders.
The words Dr. Oz and acai berries are practically inseparable these days, because Dr. Oz believes in their powers so much. He recommends eating at least five servings of acai berries to make significant changes in your health. These berries are not only one of the best anti-aging foods, but the best weight loss foods as well.
